Hockessin, DE ... nestled on a scenic byway in Chateau Country. Bird life abounds. Covered bridges are nearby. Unique because it is minutes away from world renowned du Pont legacies such as Winterthur Museum, The Natural History Museum, Longwood Gardens, and Hagley Museum. The Mount Cuba Center in Delaware~s Piedmont Plateau. The Ashland Nature Center is at the end of the road and through the covered bridge. The Marshall Steam Museum is also nearby as is The Brandywine River Museum and the Delaware Art Museum. Yorklyn (see www.Yorklyn.org), is a small hamlet less than three miles from 1319, which was once the site of a former NVF factory. It is now being restored and there's an exciting buzz of what's to come. The Delaware Symphony plans on having their summer headquarters there where concerts may be enjoyed in a soon-to-be, new, outdoor amphitheater. An equestrian center, restaurant and Farmer~s Market are also planned. A tiny, very friendly P.O. is across the street. A good health food store is up the hill. The Center for the Creative Arts serves the local community. From there, hiking paths (as well as equestrian trails, biking and antique car paths) fan out. One antique bridge is already in place over the Red Clay Creek and another will be placed this summer across the steam rail line and creek making it possible to hike from 1319 into Yorklyn (less than 3 miles) and beyond. The property 1319 is a diamond in the rough. The main Victorian house, carriage house and old tobacco barn (originally used to dry and store tobacco for Garrett Snuff Mill) form an historic courtyard with the second tallest holly tree in the state of DE. There are two stone ruins, a bank barn and a springhouse. The property itself is on eased land, currently farmed, and the views are open and preserved and surrounded by The Delaware Nature Society. The best of both worlds, 1319 is country living midway between Washington and New York, with Philadelphia a mere 45 mins. away. The Philadelphia International airport is 40 min. away. Ashland Clinton School Road, although a long name, is a small, country road only about 3 miles long. Feel proud to support open space. PROPERTY VIDEO: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v+fc-ckO6qVAU
